UW-SSEC Science Plots (06/19/2005)
NOTES:(updated 27 July 2005)
(1) The Scanning-HIS operated normally for the entire flight. North/South legs over Texas and the Gulf of Mexico. Altitude was mostly at 17km with two dips down to 13km. Skies were mostly clear except for some clouds at the southernmost section over the Gulf.
(2) The Scanning-HIS data are preliminary and will be replaced with final calibrated datasets. Please check the data archive for the most recent calibrated S-HIS data.
(3) The satellite product images are courtesy of the Uni. of Wisconsin-Madison(UW-Madison) Space Science and Engineering Center (UW-SSEC) CooperativeInstitute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS)in collaboration with NASA and NOAA.

The following plots represent the UW-SSEC Scanning-HIS data collected onboard the NASA WB-57 aircraft as part of the Aura Validation Experiment (AVE) at the time of the Aura overpass near the Louisiana Coast. Note: A larger clear region in the central Gulf of Mexico should also be used for validation.
Matlab m-file script used to create Science Plots
- S-HIS Mean and Std of Unapodized Radiance ( Nadir Matlab mat-file Zenith Matlab mat-file )
- Latitude/Longitude/Altitude ( [The red dots on the lat/lon/alt plot indicate the spectra used to create the time averaged spectral plots shown.]Matlab fig file , PNG file )
